Alhaji Naser Mahama Toure

Visible projects will ensure my victory

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Alhaji Naser Mahama Toure, has said the visible development projects that he has undertaken in the constituency during his term of office will ensure victory for him in the parliamentary primaries.

Alhaji Toure, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the NDC, said he had done a lot for the constituents for them to put their trust in him and also vote him to represent them in Parliament again.

“Since I assumed office as the MP, I have done more than enough within these few years for the people to be confident and put their trust in me to represent them again”, he told the Daily Graphic in an interview in Accra.

Resilient constituency

Additionally, he said, he had successfully built a resilient constituency in which vulnerable people were not only protected against livelihood risks, but were also  provided with the needed support systems to be able to create, sustain and expand wealth, in good health, and in an atmosphere of peace, trust and transparency.

He is facing competition from Mr Issah Ali, the Vice Chairman of the Ayawaso East Constituency of the NDC, and Alhaji Haruna Rashid Ibrahim the Executive Director of Development Challenge, a research for development policy think tank.

The constituency was carved out of Ayawaso East which was then represented by the current MP for Ayawaso North, Dr Ahmed Mustapha who is also the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Achievements

Highlighting some of his achievements, Alhaji Toure said in the area of education, schools in the constituency which needed either renovation or additional classroom blocks had been given the necessary attention.

For instance, he said he had constructed a new classroom block for the Islamic Education Institute, popularly known as “Mallam Mustapha Yaa Jalal School” to improve teaching and learning and also constructed a wall around the school to improve security.

He said brilliant, needy students at all levels of their education were supported with the payment for their educational needs through a common fund that was set up by his office with an initial seed capital of GH¢10,000.

“I have also supplied learning materials to schools and also distributed over 300 school uniforms, and  300 desks in the constituency so as to promote quality education to constituents”, he added.

Health

In the area of health, Alhaji Toure said he had assisted women, children and the elderly to register for free for their National Health Insurance (NHIS) cards, adding “per our estimation, we have reached out to over 1400 people and if re-elected, I will continue to support others to enrol onto the scheme in order to enjoy healthcare services”.
