A press release signed by the Regional Secretary, Mr  Atanga Donatus Akamugri, and copied to the GNA, said: “The appointment of the widely acclaimed legal luminary came as no surprise to us, taking into account his laudable delivery in his capacity as the Executive Secretary of the Constitution Review Commission and many other high-profile roles nationally and internationally.

“The choice as the President’s official scribe portends brighter hope for all young people in Ghana,” it said.

The release said there was no doubt that both Dr. Atuguba and Mr Ayariga would live up to expectation, considering the fact that both were objective, affable, experienced, knowledgeable and broad-minded.

It said the Upper East Region, which gave the NDC 66.4 per cent of the votes cast in the region in the December 2012 polls, second only to the Volta Region, ensured a first round victory for President Mahama and the appointment of the two from the region formed part of the President’s recognition of its performance at the polls.

The release restated the pledge by the executives of their unflinching support for the party, adding that they would play their roles efficiently to help President Mahama run his administration

It appealed to those challenging the electoral verdict to emulate the same civility and gentility that former President John Agyekum Kufuor had exhibited over the years to help maintain the current peace of the country.
