Unite for peace, development, Minister tells people of Sankore

He, therefore, cautioned the people, especially supporters of the NDC, to be law abiding as he would not go to the defence of anybody for breaching the laws of the country.

Mr Opoku made the remarks when he addressed a durbar of the chiefs and people of Sankore after a courtesy call on the Sankore Traditional Council as part of his tour to introduce himself to the various traditional councils in the region after assuming office as the new regional minister.

Mr Opoku, who is a native of Sankore and the Member of Parliament (MP) for area (Asunafo South),received a rousing welcome from his constituents amidst brass band music and was later installed by the Sankore Traditional Council as a development chief under the stool name Okogyeadea Kofi Adusie IV. He was named after the late Omanhene of Sankore, Okogyeadea Yaw Adusie.

Addressing the durbar, Mr Opoku urged the people of Sankore to eschew all negative tendencies that cast a slur on the area and added that although he was from Sankore, he had been tasked by the President to oversee to the total development of the region and therefore he would not discriminate but would work to improve the living conditions of all in the region.

He called on the Sankore  traditional council to look for a suitable and qualified person to succeed the late paramount chief for peace and speedy development of the area since nananom played a vital role in the development of their respective traditional areas.

Nana Tabiri Gyansa, the Krontihene of Sankore Traditional Area and acting President of the Traditional Council, on behalf of the chiefs and people of Sankore thanked President, John Dramani Mahama for appointing Mr Eric Opoku as the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.

He expressed the hope that as the regional minister and MP for the area, he would work assiduously for the total development of Sankore and the region as a whole.
