Unite and support my administration - Offinso North DCE appeals

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North, Mr David Kwasi Asare, has charged assembly members, heads of departments and other stakeholders to unite and provide their unflinching and unalloyed support for his administration for the effective and efficient running of the district.

He noted that the execution of development programmes and activities in the district could not be done unless all stakeholders cooperated and worked assiduously towards that.

Mr Asare made the observation at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the assembly at Akomadan.

He talked on a number of issues, including governance, agriculture, education, health, trade and industry, development projects, finance and security.

On  governance, he expressed concern over the 18 departments, agencies, institutions and services which had become functional in the district since the inauguration of the assembly on February 29, 2008 but still lacked offices and residential accommodation and logistics and faced financial constraints.

He noted that some of those institutions were housed in the urban councils, the  chief’s palace and private premises.

Mr Asare assured the assembly that it was his vision to provide accommodation for the functional departments to enable them to perform.

He announced that a three-storey, multi-complex administration block was to be built at Yeboah Apatam, a suburb of Akomadan, to provide suitable accommodation for the departments and agencies.

Agriculture

On agriculture, he said inspired by the government’s agricultural policy on Planting for Food and Jobs, the assembly, in collaboration with the District Agricultural Department, was working to ensure the success of the programme.

He said the assembly had received farm inputs, including 5,000 bags of fertiliser, to support the programme.

Mr Asare said the assembly’s budget for the 2017 fiscal year set a target of GH¢414, 699.70 for internally generated fund (IGF), out of which it had been able to collect GH¢118,433.60 representing 28.5 per cent of the targeted annual IGF.
