Tarzan apologises to Dr Bawumia

Dr Charles Wereko-BrobbySuspended founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will meet the party’s disciplinary committee later Friday, over his recent criticisms of the party’s decision to challenge the outcome of the 2012 presidential results at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, who was a leading member of the NPP, had indicated he was not going to appear before the Committee because, calls for his suspension contravene the party’s constitution.

Confirming the meeting to Joy News, NPP General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie said Dr. Wereko-Brobby has also written to accept the invitation to appear before the Committee.

Meanwhile, Dr. Wereko Brobby has reiterated that his purported suspension is not in consonance with the requirements of the NPP’s constitution. According to him, he will only be attending Friday’s meeting because of the respect he has for the members of the Committee.

Dr. Wereko-Brobby has however, apologised to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the petitioners star witness in the election petition case, for his earlier comments.

Tarzan as he is popularly called, had said the party could have chosen someone else who is well vexed on election matters instead of Dr. Bawumia.

Dr. Wereko-Brobby had stated that the party’s 2012 vice-presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was not a “Junior Jesus” who is infallible.

He had described Dr. Bawumia as “clueless” on the substantive issues in court.

But Dr. Wereko-Brobby said his criticism is not directed at the competence of Dr. Bawumia but on the fact that he thought someone else could have been selected to give witness.
