Addressing a group of people in Accra yesterday morning in commemoration of the June 4 Revolution, he cautioned against apathy among Ghanaians.

He made reference to the death toll recorded from the explosion and flooding, which is collectively above 100, besides many recorded injuries.

“Who is going to pay their children’s school fees? Who is going to take care of their families? This dog eat dog mentality should cease,” he said.
Relatedly, former President Rawlings also called for thorough investigations into the GOIL filling station fire that claimed more than 100 lives.

The former leader, who visited the scene yesterday morning, said the circumstances surrounding the incident must be probed to its logical conclusion.
“We must understand into details the fire safety measures that were put in place by the management of the station. It’s a sad incident and we must seek to avoid such occurrences but we must know exactly what could have been done to avoid incidents like these,” he said.
