Respect security institutions for peaceful elections - Political parties advised

The Head Pastor of the Victorious Light Chapel International, Rev. Ishmael Adjei Aboagye, has advised political parties in the country to respect the security institutions in order to have peaceful elections always.

He urged them to not lose trust in the state’s security system, stating that it was the same system that had sustained us all these years.

Rev. Adjei Aboagye said this at a Sunday service in Accra.

“We should not condemn our security system because that is what we have. We cannot bring in foreign security personnel to protect us so the earlier we respect them the better for us all,” he said.

Weaknesses and lapses

“There may be weaknesses and lapses in the system but that should not call for condemnation. We should rather support them to do the right thing,” he added.

The pastor also advised the media to be circumspect in their reports on political issues in order not to plunge the nation into crisis this election year.

Death of Christ

Touching on the death of Christ, Rev. Adjei Aboagye said it was meant to unite the world. He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to love themselves and be there for each other, especially in an election year.

“The death of Christ should unite us. Election is not war and churches have a big role to play by educating people that election is not about violence,” he explained.

“I also pray to God to give all political parties in the country the strength to campaign so that in the end God Himself will choose his leader,” he noted.

He also urged Christians not to allow partisan politics to divide them and urged them to love one another unconditionally and accept each other for what they believed in.
