Resist corruption ahead of 2020 elections - GACC

The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GASS), Mrs Beauty Emefa Narteh has urged Ghanaians to stand against corrupt practices as it could have a negative impact on the peace and development of the country ahead of the 2020 general elections.

She said political parties were susceptible to corrupt practices during election years due to the nature of electioneering activities in the country.

Speaking to Graphic Online in an interview, Mrs Narteh said the electorates must, therefore, be on the lookout for politicians who indulge in corrupt practices and expose them to help preserve the country’s peaceful democracy and foster development.

She urged citizens to actively monitor the big electioneering process as a proven method for increased transparency and accountability.

“Towards the 2020 elections, it is important for every citizen to commit to saying no to electoral malpractice and violence.

“We, therefore, call on all stakeholders, especially the youth, to desist from all forms of electoral malpractice and violence and rather channel their energies and passion to ensuring a peaceful election 2020,” she said.

This, she said would help promote peace and development, and also solidify Ghana’s democratic credentials globally.
