Reshuffle: Dr Agyeman-Mensah for Health; Sherry Ayittey for Fisheries

President John mahama has made further changes in ministerial appointments.

A statement issued in  Accra Sunday by the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau said the President had nominated a former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, as Minister - designate for Health to replace Madam Hanny-Sherry Ayittey, who has been re-assigned to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Former Local Government & Rural Development Minister, Mr. Akwasi Oppong- Fosu, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.  

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani, has been reassigned to the Upper West Region. 

The statement said as part of the ongoing changes in his administration, the President had also nominated Nii Osah Mills, a former President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), as Ministe - designate for Lands and Natural Resources and Mr. James Zuugah Tiigah currently with Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the UN, as Minister, - designate for the Upper East Region.

It said the deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, and Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, have also been reassigned.  Mr Vanderpuije moves to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development while Mr Murtala moves to the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations. 

“In accordance with Article 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the President has also nominated Mr. Jonny Osei Kofi of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as Deputy Minister— designate for Water Resources, Works and Housing”, the statement added.
