He said at the durbar that he had directed the free distribution of 1,500 prepaid electricity meters to residents of the constituency.

The move, the President said, was to ensure that safe and reliable electricity supply was available to every home in the constituency.

Challenges

The President, who spoke passable Fante, said he was aware of the challenges residents of the area faced with regard to electricity distribution to homes.

He said the problem with electricity distribution was rooted in inadequate meters, which he promised to address.

He assured the people of the area that the government would continue to provide the needed infrastructure to improve their living conditions.

President Mahama indicated that the foundation the government had laid for a major socio-economic take-off could not be handed over to any other President to build on.

He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote massively for the NDC to continue with the good work.

Campaign coordinator

The Campaign Coordinator of the NDC, Mr Kofi Adams, said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) knew it could  not match the record of the NDC in government, hence the NPP’s resort to lies about the NDC in a bid to sway the electorate to its side.

President Mahama introduced the parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, Mr Kobby Akyeampong to the electorate and urged them to vote for him.
