President Mahama commended for appointing youth

President John Dramani Mahama has been commended for appointing a number of youth as part of his government.

The District Chief Executive for Afadzato South, Mrs Angela Oforiwa Alorwu-Tay, said the action by the president demonstrated that the future belonged to the youth and that their role in national development could not be over-emphasised.

The DCE, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Ve-Golokwati in the Volta Region, appealed to the youth appointees to reciprocate the President’s gesture by working hard to ensure the accomplishment of the government’s ‘Better Ghana’ Agenda.

“I urge you to desist from doing things that can make the President regret giving you the opportunity to take part in his governance and can block the appointment of  the youth into government in future.”

Mrs Alorwu-Tay appealed to Ghanaians to respect the President and said: “Ghanaians are trained to respect elders, especially those in authority, but of late, some Ghanaians are using politics to throw away these values of Ghanaians.  Some people can even insult the President and go scot-free, which is alien to the Ghanaian culture”.

The DCE said as soon as the 2013 election was over, President John Dramani Mahama became the father for all, adding  “Ghana is the only country we have, let us make it a better place for us all”. — GNA
