The second anniversary symposium of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will take place today, at Tarkwa Community Centre in the Western Region.
The party will use the occasion to brief Ghanaians on the progress so far made within the past two years of its existence; report on the current state of the party and educate members on the party’s policy positions on various sectors of the nation.
Speakers at the symposium will include Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the PPP Presidential Candidate in the 2012 general elections; his running mate Ms Eva Lokko and National Chairman, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond.
Other speakers are Vice-Chairman Mary Ankomah Boakye Boateng, National Secretary Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, National Youth Co-ordinator Divine Nkrumah, National Women’s Co-ordinator Belinda Bulley, regional executive members, constituency executive members and a host of party stalwarts. A number of party members and sympathisers are also expected to converge on the venue to commemorate the day.
It will be recalled that the National Secretary of the PPP, Mr Kofi Asamaoh Siaw, said the PPP was determined to wrest political power from the two dominant political parties - the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections.
Accordingly, the PPP is living the reality of that dream with pragmatic programmes and measures that seek to convince the Ghanaian electorate that the PPP is the party of choice, he stated.
Meanwhile, the party plans as part of its social contributions, to support five constituencies in the Western, Upper West, East and the Ashanti regions with development project as part of its second anniversary celebration of the party.
