PNC schedules congress for September 19
The People’s National Congress (PNC) will on September 19, this year hold its National Delegates Congress to elect a flag bearer and national officers.
In line with that, the party has opened nominations for prospective aspirants to pick up forms to enable them to contest the various positions.

The congress will be held simultaneously in the various regions as part of measures to adhere to the coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols
Also, the party has scheduled September 5, this year for the regional conferences to elect regional executives.
NEC meeting
The National Chairman of the PNC, Mr Bernard Mornah, announced this at a media briefing after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Accra yesterday.
The meeting was attended by national executives, regional executives and some Council of Elders of the party.
Modalities
Mr Mornah said those aspiring for the flagbearer position must pay a filing fee of GHc20,000, while those vying for the National Chairmanship will pay GHc10,000, General Secretary aspirants will pay GHc5,000 while the other national positions will attract a filing fee of GH¢2,000.
Those vying for deputy national positions, he said, would pay half of the filing fees paid by those vying for the substantive positions.
“The National Delegates Congress will take place at the regional capitals. National officers will be added to the Greater Accra Region. Where a national officer will be in another region, he or she must give prior notice so that their names can be added to the region in which they will be at the time of the congress,” he said.
Guidelines and committee
Mr Mornah said in order to ensure a successful organisation of the National Delegates Congress, the party had established an eight-member congress committee.
Members of the committee are Colonel Luri Bayorbor, Professor Raymond Atuguba, Dr George Agulijam, Madam Christiana Bentie, Mr Sulemen Seidu, Mr MaBakinam, Dr Kumi Ansah Koi and Mr Issah Adam.
The congress committee, he said, would also constitute the vetting committee for the elections at the national level.
The NEC, he said, had also approved certain guidelines for the elections, which he said must be adhered to by all the aspirants.
He said as part of the guidelines, all aspirants must meet the constitutional requirements for contesting public elections, must have paid their dues for the past three years and be a member in good standing.
