PLAYBACK: NDC Members don't read - Bawumia reiterates (VIDEO)
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated claims that members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) do not like reading because of what he says is their tendency to mislead Ghanaians by misrepresenting facts.
Dr Bawumia used his acceptance speech after being acclaimed as the Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party on Saturday, to repeat the claims which he first made in February 2016.

"They are still trying to make a comeback to give us an additional dose of their incompetence. I know they don’t read, but I entreat them to take a look at the data to get better informed on our performance viz-a-viz theirs," Dr Bawumia said.
He also made reference to comments made by the NDC's General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in the aftermath of last Thursday's Supreme Court verdict.
“They should not only read the data, but they should try to understand it so that, they don’t mislead Ghanaians like their mosquito General tried to do after the verdict of the Supreme Court on Thursday,” he stressed.
Dr Bawumia first made his claims in June 2016 in response to a statement from the then Minister of Communication Dr Edward Omane Boamah on the content of a lecture that he (Bawumia) had given at the University for Development Studies, Wa Campus.

Dr Boamah had described as “false and misleading” claims by Dr Bawumia that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) party had among other things increased Ghana’s debt.
At the time, Dr Bawumia wrote in a Facebook post: “What is clear to me (and confirms my long-held suspicion) is that members of this government, handed the mandate to manage our destinies as a nation, do not read. Worse of all, as I said on 14th February 2015, at a forum at the University for Development Studies, what is most unfortunate about this whole episode is the fact that the government doesn’t even seem to know how much it has borrowed.”
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has cautioned the Vice President to be decorous in his choice of words when describing the opposition.
"The Vice President should appreciate that Ghanaians have moved away from the politics of name-calling, of insults... You are occupying a high office, the Vice President," the opposition MP said in an interview on Joy FM.
