Pedestrian bridge for Sofoline terminal
The Sofoline Bus Terminal in the Kwadaso Municipality will soon be fixed with a pedestrian overpass bridge to reduce the risk faced by pedestrians while crossing the road.
The bridge, which will link the bus terminal to the Prempeh College side of the road, forms part of the new modifications to the original Sofoline Interchange Road Project currently under construction.

Though the road has an underpass, pedestrians are reluctant to use it for fear of being attacked by thieves and armed robbers.
Safety
Addressing the media here last Friday, the Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Mr Richmond Agyenim Boateng, assured the public of their safety while using the underpass.
He said the place had been fixed with lights and had security men placed at vantage points to ensure the safety of the users.
He admitted that the Sofoline bus terminal crossing was one of the most dangerous pelican crosses in the region and was hopeful that when the bridge was fixed, it would save the lives of the motorists on the road.
According him, the contractors intended to fix another overpass bridge at Asuoyeboa SSNIT flats but preliminary survey showed that it would be very difficult to find a place to mount it.
The MCE, who answered questions from the media at the assembly’s maiden meet-the-press encounter, further assured the residents that the contractor working on the Sofoline Interchange Road Project would come back to site to continue the work.
He said other road projects within the municipality had been awarded on contracts and very soon the contractors would move to site and start work to bring relief to residents.
Projects
Giving account of his stewardship, Mr Agyenim-Boateng said the assembly had been able to supply over 3,000 dual desks to schools within the municipality, had given a facelift to the Edwenase Rehab Centre, built classroom blocks for schools and also drilled boreholes for communities with water challenges.
Aside that, he said the assembly had also provided 69 people with disability with working tools and capital to make them self-sufficient.
Job creation
As part of the activities to empower the people to be self-employed, he said the assembly had trained 22 people in rabbit rearing.
He said all the trainees were set up by the assembly and provided with three rabbits (a male and two females) and a cage to rear as extra source of income for their households.
According to him, the target was to train 300 people by the end of the year.
Mr Agyenim-Boateng said the assembly would also look for restaurants and other meat shops which would buy the meat from the farmers to ensure that they had a ready market for their meat.

The Kwadaso Municipality has also benefited from the One District, One Factory programme of the government with the establishment of the Kasapreko Company Limited at Tanoso.
He said production was yet to start and was hopeful that at least 2,000 youth from the municipality would gain employment from the factory “when it becomes functional by the close of the year.”
Although relatively new, he said the assembly had been able to achieve a lot within this short period and was hopeful that all residents would fulfil their tax obligations to the assembly so it would be in a position to do more for the people.
