Parliament recalled for urgent business

Members of Parliament have been recalled to consider "some urgent parliamentary business."

A statement dated April 23, 2018 and signed by the Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Michael Ocquaye said the MPs are to report on Thursday April 26 and Friday April 27, 2018.

The MPs have been on recess since March 30, 2018.

The statement apart from indicating the consideration of the urgent Parliamentary business did not give further details of the nature of the business.

However, the Information Minister, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid had hinted that Parliamentary could be recalled to ratify a 2015 military cooperation agreement between Ghana and US.

The 2015 agreement was not known until the Akufo-Addo government released it to the media.

The Information Minister explained it was proper to bring the deal to parliament to give it "legal authority".
