#OccupyFlagstaffHouse undergoes major restructuring

Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) known as “#OccupyFlagstaffHouse”, has undergone major restructuring.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr George Kojo Anti, Spokesperson for the group the move is to enable Ghanaians, regardless of political persuasion and religious inclination to join the group and participate in its activities.

After what the group calls a successful demonstration to the Flagstaff House on July 1, 2014, members agreed to partner individuals and groups, but noticed that its core aims and objectives of good governance and inclusiveness are not being addressed sufficiently.

In a radical move as part of its 1st anniversary celebrations, which start on June 23, CGRG has decided to expand the number of directors from six to 14, in order to enable more diverse groups of people to join what is effectively the steering committee.

In addition, CGRG is opening up its membership to all Ghanaians especially the poor and vulnerable as well as the working class, professionals, technocrats and all those who want to have a voice about the governance of the country without yielding to the preferences of one political party or the other.

The re-born and rebranded CGRG would operate and trade under the name: “CitizenGhana Movement (CGM).”

The statement said CGRG is a different entity from OccupyGhana.

“To reiterate, CGM is a citizens’ movement, open to all citizens of Ghana who want to join others execute the agenda of good governance for our country.”

Activities for the first anniversary celebrations include the launch of the fly flag campaign on Tuesday, June 23, which calls on Ghanaians to fly the flag of Ghana to move the political discourse onto issues affecting the nation and not on individuals or political parties.

On July 1 there would be  a public debate on Ghana; its prospects; the opportunities that exist for Ghanaians to work to bring the country to its full potential; and how the citizenry could get the leaders to listen and act.
