Announcing his intention at a  press launch in Accra yesterday, Mr Ntim said he had the requisite experience to steer the affairs of the party to win power in 2016.

Mr Ntim, who used the occasion to launch his campaign, challenged all contestants in the  forthcoming elections- from the constituency level to the national level- to embark upon a decorous campaign devoid of mud-slinging and name-calling.

He noted that the forthcoming elections were an intra-party contest, and that when it was over, all the contestants would have to come together to work in tandem to ensure victory for the party in the 2016 elections.

Mr Ntim said he would also strive to ensure that the politics of insult was eradicated from the party, as well as work with leaders of the other political parties in an effort to stamp out this culture of insult in the  body politic of the country.

He explained that the NPP should not disappoint the rank and file of the party again by losing the 2016 general election.

He said for that reason, it was imperative  for the party to elect leaders who had been tested because there was no space and time for experimentation.

He said that he had shown resilience and tenacity of purpose in his efforts to win the chairmanship position by staying on course to offer his moral and material support to the party when he lost his two previous bids.

He urged all contestants in the forthcoming internal party elections to emulate that show of loyalty and continue to serve the party, even after losing  the elections.

Mr Ntim said that loyalty to the cause of the party had put him in such good stead in view of the immense goodwill that he currently enjoyed  among party members at all levels, which had also earned him accolade such as “Ntim scent no ...agye baabiaa,’’  “Ntim, yenim wo fir tete’’ and  Ntim, aduru wo so,’’ meaning Ntim’s fever is all over the place;  Ntim, we know you since time immemorial;  and Ntim, this is your time, respectively.

He said at a time when factionalism posed such a serious threat to the party’s unity, he was going to dedicate himself to the efforts of unifying the party.

He said he had been able to demonstrate that he did not countenance that unfortunate phenomenon which besets every truly democratic political party like the NPP.

He stressed that the factionalism within the NPP was not  as a result of ethnicity problem but ideologically based, and he would use his experience as  a unifier to bring together all perceived and real factions existing in the party.

Mr Ntim said as a System Engineer, the hallmark of his administration would be the infusion of technology such as Internet  into the activities of the party to prevent any underhand technological manoeuvres from any quarter that could potentially affect the chances of winning the 2016 elections.

Present at the launch of the campaign were some Members of Parliament from the Brong Ahafo Region.
