NPP salutes workers, urges sacrifices

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on workers to sacrifice for the development of the country.

In the view of the party,  in spite of the daunting challenges that faced the country on a daily basis, it was imperative for all Ghanaian workers to make sacrifices for the good of the nation..

A statement signed by the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Paul Afoko, said, “Our country is currently going through a bad patch and workers are at the receiving end of most of it all. Nevertheless, we encourage you to keep hope alive and continue to offer your best in our collective interest and effort to make our nation a better place.”

It pointed out that the NPP was not oblivious of the fact that the rising cost of living had eroded any gain that workers might have made with the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) but urged caution on all sides, as they engaged the government and other stakeholders to consider a review of the minimum wage.

“As we celebrate May Day, we salute all Ghanaian workers for the sacrifices you continue to make for the development of Mother Ghana, in spite of the daunting challenges that face us all on a daily basis,” it stated.

The ultimate relief, the party said, could only come with the total transformation of the economy and better management of our resources, saying, “Together, we can bring about that transformation and better management of our affairs.”

“The leadership and entire membership of the NPP present our compliments to all workers and organised labour on the celebration of this year’s International May Day,” it concluded.
