NPP not committed to finding the truth about voters register - Kwesi Pratt

The New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) refusal to hand over the alleged biometric data from the Togolese electoral register to ascertain claims of double voter registration, demonstrates a lack of commitment in dealing with the issues about Ghana’s voters register.

That is according to the Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr., who said it is interesting that the Electoral Commission has unsuccessfully tried to get the Togo register and had turned to the NPP, who have also refused to give it out.

Mr Pratt also added that the NPPs strongest evidence of claims of potential face matches on both the Ghanaian and Togolese register using the biometric facial recognition technology, lacks merit.

He was speaking on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji program on Saturday, and said the Electoral Commission forum on the voters register has proved that potential matches of faces is an insufficient evidence of double registration, adding that the biometric data itself is needed to make such determinations.

According to Mr Pratt, beyond the issue of similar faces, there are also issues about fingerprints, age and names to corroborate the claims.
