NPP holds prayer festival

A number of gospel musicians spiced up the event with melodious sounds.

In attendance were parliamentary candidates of the NPP acrosss the country, party leaders, members of the clergy and supporters of the party in Kumasi.

Nana Akufo-Ado noted that without God nothing could be possible, and that was why the party was seeking the face of the Almighty in all things, as they prepared for the elections.

"We are confident of victory because God is on our side," he stressed.

The NPP presidential candidate re-emphasised that the party would not do anything to mar the peace of the elections.

"But that does not mean we would sit aloof while our opponents cheat. In that case we shall rise and defend the ballot," he stressed.

Nana Akufo-Addo prayed that God would change the minds of those who planned to visit trouble on the elections.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor who also attended the event said Ghana was a God-fearing country and that anyone who wanted to use the elections to cause mayhem must not be entertained.

He pointed out that even though the nation needed peace, that did not mean "when one slaps you, you should allow him to repeat it without defending yourself."

Mr Kufuor said the NPP had proved to be the party with the best vision for the nation, and that Ghanaians must buy into the vision by voting massively for Nana Akufo and the party's parliamentary candidates.

He said the development of the nation hinged on quality education for all and that was why Nana Addo was bent on implementing the free SHS policy when voted into office.

The president of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev. Steve Asante, who preached the sermon, said the fall of Jericho was the battle of the Lord and with the NPP taking that path into election there was light at the end of the tunnel.

He urged Ghanaians to always have faith in the Lord because with God all things were possible.

Rev. Asante called on all actors in the elections, especially the Electoral Commission, the security services and political parties, to show integrity in the process.
