Northern youth to reward 12 persons
The Northern Youth For Peace Development (NYUPED), a non-governmental civil society advocacy group working for the human capital and infrastructural development of the three regions of northern Ghana, will reward 12 personalities who have helped to improve the lot of the people.

The Governing Council and Executive Board members of NYUPED decided to present the award to the 12 personalities in recognition of their contribution, which has impacted the lives of many, especially the youth of the region.
The 12 personalities to be awarded include President John Dramani Mahama, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2012 flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Gabby Nsiah Nketia, a former Ambassador to Korea, Baba Kamara, a senior Aide at the Office of the President, and Roland Agambire, CEO of AGAMS Groups of Companies.
Others are Mrs Doreen Owusu, a former Managing Director of Ghana Airways, Mr Gilbert Iddi, CEO of SADA, Madam Afisah Zakaria, a director at the Ministry of Health, and Chief John Addo Kufuor, the Managing Director of African Regent Hotel, among others.
A statement signed by Prince Hardi Adams, Executive Director, and Mashud Andani, the Board Chairman of NYUPED, said the ceremony would take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in Tamale.
It said that all was set for the ceremony, which would take place at the Tamale Jubilee Park.
NYUPED has been at the forefront in advocacy to ensure that social equity is administered to the three deprived northern regions of northern Ghana in national resource distribution and infrastructure development, and also has as an institutional policy to award persons and personalities both in and outside the area whose contributions, initiatives , mentorship and role-modelling have changed perceptions of the youth and have motivated them to rise to the height of their greatest destinies.
In 2011, NYUPED recognised and rewarded high-profile personalities such as Mr Douglas Kumassi, GNPA CEO, and Madam Sandhu-Rojon, UNDP Country Representative, among others.
