The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended all activities leading to the party’s congress in October this year.

The activities include campaigns and conferences being organised at the national, regional, constituency and branch levels across the country.

The decision is to enable the party to actively participate and effectively monitor the ongoing Electoral Commission’s limited voter registration exercise nationwide.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, it said, “We remind party members that the registration is a vital element on the country’s electoral programme.”

It said the NEC appreciated the enthusiasm and commitment exhibited by members in all programmes and activities preceding the party’s national congress.

It also commended the party’s executives and comrades at all levels, especially “our members for their invaluable role and sacrifices they are making towards the ongoing national registration exercise.”

The NEC encourages all members of the party to comply with the directive to ensure the success of the exercise, it concluded.
