NDC sure to return to power — Amissah-Arthur
The former Vice-President, Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has assured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party members that the NDC would surely return to power in 2020 and help revive the economy which was seriously facing challenges in the hands of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)- led government.
He, however, said winning the 2020 election would depend on unity among the party members from the grassroots to the national level, stressing that the party lost to the NPP due to factions and disunity in the NDC at the time of the last election.

He said, “we did not promise Ghanaians to do this or that when we were coming into power, but we delivered to the expectation of all Ghanaians, including the construction of roads and school infrastructure.
We created jobs for the people before we left office, but what are we seeing currently with the NPP? They made the loudest noise of doing everything for this nation, but we can all attest to the fact that NPP has failed us.
“While NDC cares for the people, NPP says everybody for himself or herself. Are we safe if we continue to have such a party ruling us?” he asked.
Monitoring visit
Mr Amissah-Arthur made the remarks when he addressed party members at Kpong- Nlokordzi in theLower Manya Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region during his monitoring of the registration of members in the various polling stations.
He visited a number of polling stations where he interacted with registration officials and the electorate.
He said the main purpose for the registration was to have database for the party as part of preparation and reorganisation towards the 2020 election.
The former vice-president said the registration of the party members was not meant to vote out the current polling station officials and the constituency executives, as well as the Member of Parliament, as it was perceived.
He added: “This registration has absolutely nothing to do with the election of any party official, but to know the numbers that we have as our data base and plan with it.”
He said any party official who sabotaged the registration would eventually thwart the effort of the whole party in the long run and that would not help the party as it was poised to come back.
During the monitoring, the former vice-president received reports from the various polling stations that the MP for the area, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi and the Lower Manya Krobo
Constituency Chairman, Mr David Walter Mawulolo Hormenu, alleged that the registration of the party members was meant to kick out the MP and the current constituency executive and, therefore, advised party members not to consider the ongoing registration as any serious exercise.
“The MP and the party chairman even advised us to hide the registers when they were told of your monitoring,” one of the polling station officials revealed.
The effect of this allegation was seen when the vice president went round on his monitoring exercise.
For instance, at the Hwekper Polling Station, at Odumase-Krobo, with a total population of 1,500 in the previous register, only 61 had registered as of Sunday, February 18, 2018, the day of the visit.
The same thing happened at all the other polling stations, which confirmed the allegation.
Mr Amissah-Arthur advised the NDC members to register quickly as there were only 10 days to end the registration.
He was accompanied on the monitoring visit by the former MP for the area, Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu; the Constituency Women Organiser, Ms Esther Nater, and other constituency executive members.
