NCCE, media must collaborate for healthy democratic development

Mr Nasagri said it was important for the public to be given appropriate and effective skills to create the necessary collective resolve to resist abuses and violations of the Constitution

He said the Commission would enhance citizens’ participation in governance and carry out focus group discussions on “social differences-integrating and differentiation factors and how to overcome obstacles to consensus building”.

He said the Commission would seek to develop effective and institutional linkages with the appropriate government mechanisms and institutions for the purpose of getting the appropriate government responses to its recommendations.

The commission would actively contribute to policy formulation by the government, especially the social policies of government to address the inequalities and vulnerabilities among the populace, he said.

Mr  Nasagri said since rights had their corresponding duties, obligations and responsibilities, the citizens must be educated and informed to know their rights to be able to appreciate and carry out their civic responsibilities and obligations to conform to the principles and provisions of the Constitution.

He said the commission would carry out activities to mark the international women’s month to highlight issues of women’s manifesto of Ghana and screen documentary on women in public offices, particularly newly elected female members of Parliament to motivate young girls to aspire to higher heights. - GNA
