NALAG President gets Sekyere Central DCE post
President John D Mahama’s nominee for District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Central, Mr Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, was confirmed last Thursday when 29 out of the 36 assembly members present voted for him in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.

Mr Akuoko-Frimpong who is the incumbent President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), was re-nominated by the President.
The election, which was supervised by the Ashanti Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Samuel Tettey, was witnessed by the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD), Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South Constituency.
Speaking at the function, Mr Agyekum commended the members for giving Mr Akuoko-Frimpong the nod to continue with his good job, which the voting pattern had truly justified.
He stressed that the assembly would continue to work with him to bring a lot of progress and development to the area.
He assured the members of the preparedness of the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to improve the lot of the people of Ghana.
Mr Agyekum further assured them that his ministry was doing all things possible to encourage the assemblies to perform effectively.
He stressed that the assemblies, when well structured, could facilitate decentralisation, which is core to accelerated development.
Mr Akuoko-Frimpong thanked members for the confidence reposed in him.
He noted that the area, through their support, had seen improvement and pleaded with them to continue in that spirit so that the area could compete with other District, Municipal and Metropolitan (DMM) assemblies in the race for development.
The Presiding Member (PM), Mr Edward Afoakwa Sekyere, thanked members for voting once again to give Mr Akuoko-Frimpong the nod.
He expressed the hope that the members would continue to rally behind the DCE to work hard for the best interest of the area.
