While in the GTA, Mr Acheampong presented a Media Award to an international journalist, Dr Jefferson Sackey, at the 10th Planet Africa Awards Gala held at Brampton’s Pearson Convention Centre on October 24, 2015.

With past recipients, including Professor Wole Soyinka and the Hon.  Jean Augustine, the Planet Africa awards programme recognises deserving individuals within the black community, as well as organisations that make a profound difference in Canada and abroad.

Mr Ebenezer Asare, CEO of Afrocan Direct Imports Inc.,  also received a Planet Africa Enterprise award in recognition of his entrepreneurship and community contributions.

Mr Seth Acheampong, who also met with administrators at McMaster University and Mohawk College, to discuss collaborations with Presbyterian University College in Kwahu, as well as the Atibie Nursing Training College, also addressed the Toronto New Patriotic Party (NPP) chapter on October 18, 2015 after which he attended a dinner /fundraising night at the Primavera Hotel in Woodbridge on October 25, together with the NPP flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to the legislator, his visit has helped in strengthening relationships developed over the years with Canadian politicians, academics and business executives who were interested in bilateral relations with Ghana.

“It also gave me the opportunity to connect with the vibrant Ghanaian community in the GTA, which is making significant contributions to Canada and the motherland,” he stated.
