The Volta Regional Minister, Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, has disclosed that all abandoned projects in the region will be investigated to ensure that they are revived and completed.
She said all contractors on the projects would be invited, together with contract awarding agencies, to discuss the challenges that might have led to the projects being left in their current state.
According to her, a lot of projects are at a standstill and she will, therefore, invite the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), Department of Feeder Roads (DFR), among others, to explain the state of every project.
Ms Ntoso made this known when the regional executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and some senior journalists in the region paid a courtesy call on her at the office last Tuesday.
She said action plans of all district assemblies would be revised to ensure that they were delivered on time to meet the aspirations of the people.
The regional minister promised rapport with media practitioners because they were regarded as partners in development, but asked them to be careful in their reporting by making sure that their stories were balanced.
She also promised to be time-conscious and to exhibit a good culture of time management, adding that, “a minute late can cost a life”.
Ms Ntoso told the journalists that she was not a novice in the region as the conditions in the region were well known to her and that she would continue from where her predecessors had left off, particularly as regards the construction of a modern stadium, an air strip, the Eastern Corridor and a number of feeder roads.
She said her main task was to prepare the region for the 2016 elections and would work towards that goal.
Earlier, the regional secretary of GJA, Mr Kafui Bells Kanyi, said the media was prepared to extend its support towards the achievement of the development objectives of the region.
Present at the function was the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyaglo.
