He said as the MCE for the area, he would ensure that there was effective collaboration between him and the MP to facilitate the development of the constituency.

According to him, most often, due to the parliamentary ambitions of some DCE’s, there was usually bad blood between the two, adding that most DCE’s undermined MP’s from their own political party in order to contest and unseat them in the party’s parliamentary primary.

Mr Oppong gave the assurance during a thanksgiving and induction service in honour of Mr Obeng-Inkoom, who is also an elder of the Church of Pentecost.

The event was also attended by a delegation from the Swedruman council of chiefs led by the Sanahene of Agona Swedru, Nana Ogyabea Bedu Ehuren, assembly members and party supporters.

Mr Oppong asked the MP to be courageous and to be the voice of the voiceless and champion the development agenda of the constituency, stressing that he will work collectively with him

towards improving the lot of the people.

He lauded the MP for his instrumentality in securing GH¢24 million from the government earmarked for the dredging of the Akora Riveraimed. The project, when complete, will curb the perennial floods experienced in the town in recent past.

He called for unity within the NDC party in the constituency, as well as party cohesion that would inure to the benefit of the generality of the electorate.

Mr Obeng-Inkoom, in an address, thanked all those who devoted their time, energy and resources to prosecute an effective political campaign that gave victory to the NDC.

He expressed his determination to leave behind a legacy that would not be forgotten in the politics of the constituency.

He thanked the MCE for his immense contribution towards his campaign and promised to work effectively with him for the development of the municipality.

The Swedru Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Asare, together with other ministers of the gospel and the congregation, prayed for the MCE and the MP for God’s protection and guidance in the discharge of their duties.
