Manhyia North MP accounts to constituents
As part of his programme to account to the people and bring the work of Parliament closer to them, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Manhyia North (MP), Mr Collins Owusu Amankwah, on Sunday, October 13, 2019, held a public forum for the people of the Duase community within the constituency.
Mr Amankwah, who is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary-Select Committee on Government Assurances, also took the opportunity to explain the work of the committee to the people.

He said the committee served as check on ministers, MPs and the government to ensure that they delivered on their mandate and promises.
Projects
According to him, it was the duty of the community to ensure that all promises made by the government, as well as MPs and ministers, were fulfilled so as to get the needed development to the people.
''As I stand before you today, be assured that, as your MP, and the chairman of the Assurance Committee, all promises made to you by the government and myself will be fulfilled to make you benefit from the governance process'', he said.
Apart from the provision of the dual and mono desks for the Duase Primary and Junior High School, he said, he also made a personal cash donation of GHc10,000 to clear the refuse dump in the town.
He said through his instrumentality, some selected households, which did not have toilet facilities were provided with the facility in their homes to serve the needs of especially, the aged and the vulnerable in the community.
Security
To improve on the security in the communities, Mr Amankwah said he assisted all assembly members from all the electoral areas with streetlights and bulbs in their communities and facilitated the recruitment of some youth who qualified onto the Youth in Afforestation module, as well as the Nation Builders Corps programme.
Forum
During the public forum, most of the residents requested for job opportunities for their wards or children and asked the MP to keep them informed of the offers available to enable them to get their children employed.
For instance, Madam Oforiwaa Amponsah, appealed to the MP to support traders to get admission into the nursing training colleges for their children.
Some also blamed the assembly members for hoarding such opportunities and giving them only to their cronies.
They appealed to the legislator to hold more of such meetings to keep them abreast of developments and opportunities available to them in the constituency.
