‘Let your speeches have positive impact’

The Presiding Bishop of the Lamb of God Ministry, Rev. John Felix Cobbinah, has asked the leadership of the various political parties and their flag bearers to put the message of peace at the forefront of their campaign.

He said since the speeches of political parties controlled the behaviour of the voting population, it would be extremely essential for them to use their various platforms to remind their followers of the need to tolerate one another.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic after the church held a programme to mark its 20th anniversary in Accra, Rev. Cobbinah, who is also the founder and General Overseer of the Lamb of God Ministry, said if Ghana wanted to risk anything, “it should not be peace”.

“No political party can rule in a land of chaos and war. Without the atmosphere of peace and tolerance, development has no future,” he said.

He added that the fact that Ghana had not witnessed any civil conflict did not mean that the peace of the country should be taken for granted.

“We should set a high agenda for peace in such a way that nothing any individual or political party does can jeopardise it,” he said.

As part of its 20th anniversary, Rev. Cobbinah said the church had decided not only to pray for Ghana in the build-up to Election 2016 but also to educate its congregation on the need to pursue peace and tolerance.

“As a church, one of our greatest goals for this year is to use diverse ways to get the people to honour and respect each other, irrespective of their political affiliation,” he said.

He, therefore, called on other religious groups to join the campaign to maintain peace before, during and after the December 7 polls.

The future

Outlining some of the goals the church intended to achieve in the next five years, Rev. Cobbinah said it would expand and build more of its branches to send the gospel to all parts of the country.

Currently, the church has 10 branches across the country.

He also said the Lamb of God Ministry had partnered with renowned churches in the United States of America to open up for more collaborations and development.

Apart from that, he said the church had acquired a vast land at Bawjiasi in the Central Region to build schools and hospitals in its bid to contribute to national development.
