Let there be peace - Nana Akufo-Addo tells NPP

Nana Addo with NPP executives from the Central RegionThe 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party 9NPP), Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for calm within the party even as he considers whether or not to lead the party in the next presidential elections come 2016.
Re-echoing his decision to take a break to seek guidance from God in his political future, Nana Addo told the party’s Central Region executives who paid a courtesy call on him at his residence at Nima that, whether or not he led the party, he would continue to support the party.

“As we reflect on what has happened over the years, we must not relent on our efforts in ensuring unity in our great party. Whether I lead or I don’t, I will continue to support this great tradition that we have,” he said.

While admitting that petty squabbles may occur, Nana Addo noted that, “the ultimate goal for each and every one of us is to build the party to win power. We must win power because this is the only party that can help solve the many problems confronting this great country."

Nana Akufo-Addo explained to the executives the need to accept the decision of the Supreme Court, saying, “this great party of ours has been at the forefront of advancing democracy in this country and though we had problems with the verdict, we decided to respect it, seek no review and work together to move this country forward.”

The 2012 flag bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said he is taking a break to “seek guidance from my God and announce my political future in due time.”

The Central Regional Executives led by former Minister, Nana Ato Arthur commended Nana Addo for his support for the party over the years. They pledged their support for Nana Addo, if he decides to seek a third chance to lead the NPP to the 2016 presidential poll.

Meanwhile, a delegation of queen mothers from various traditional areas in the country also called on Nana Akufo-Addo and commended him for accepting the Supreme Court’s verdict.

The women extolled the leadership qualities of Nana Addo, adding that his decision to accept the Supreme Court verdict and seek no review is the reason behind the peace currently prevailing in the country.
