Let’s resolve to move Ghana forward – Rev. Asante Antwi

Most Rev Emmanuel Asante AntwiThe chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev Emmanuel Asante Antwi says it is time Ghanaians resolved to move on in unity to tackle other pressing matters confronting the nation’s development rather than persist in endless litigation.

He has consequently counselled all parties in the petition challenging the outcome of the 2012 presidential election to accept the Supreme Court’s verdict to be delivered Thursday, no matter how sweet or bitter it turns out.

Most Rev Asante Antwi who was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday afternoon, also called on all to go onto their knees and pray to God to speak through the judges that His will may be done to end the matter.

Nana Akufo-AddoPresident John MahamaHe further cautioned celebrants to be mindful of the times and desist from doing anything that will ignite riots, saying that while it is the right of anyone to express their joys when the matter is decided, it should be done in moderation. There would therefore be no need to taunt opponents who may not be favoured by the decision.

Rev Prof Asante Antwi said the Peace Council, in spite of many challenges it faced in the discharge of its tasks, was pleased that it has largely achieved its objectives, particularly gauging from the present conciliatory posturing of contributors to the political discourse relative to previous times where foul language reigned supreme on the airwaves.

He was grateful to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the government for supporting activities of the council, saying that in spite of tags seeking to ridicule the efforts by the council, such as references to its work as a ‘peace industry’, the outcome has been very positive.
