La Dadekotopon confirms new MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), Mr Solomon Kotey-Nikoi, has been unanimously confirmed as the MCE for the assembly.

His confirmation comes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, Act 936, nominated him as the new MCE for the assembly.

The MCE position became vacant after the sitting MCE, Mrs Gladys Maku Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey, passed away in June this year.

Mr Kotey-Nikoi was the La Dadekotopon Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Election

During an election organised by the Electoral Commission (EC) at a special meeting in Accra on Tuesday to confirm his appointment, 15 assembly members who voted unanimously confirmed his appointment.

At the meeting, Mr Kotey-Nikoi was then sworn in by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Ishmael Ashitey, to begin work.

The meeting was attended by the Regional Coordinating Director at the Regional Coordinating Council, Mr Ernest Nyagbe, a former MCE of LaDMA, Ms Rita Odoley Sowah, a former Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Nii Amasah Namoale, and some officials of the assembly.

Development

In a brief address, Mr Ashitey urged the MCE to put the necessary measures in place to improve the development of the area.

“Development projects are not taking place as it should be, so it is imperative on our part to get a new MCE,” he said.

He described Mr Kotey-Nikoi as a quiet and gentle person, urging the assembly members to support him to promote development in the municipality.

MCE

Mr Kotey-Nikoi, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming endorsement and said he was committed to ensuring that he expedited actions on the development agenda of the municipality devoid of partisan considerations.
