An aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Adjei Agyapong is reported injured in a car accident on the Accra Nsawam Road.
Also injured in the accident, details of which are sketchy yet, is a photographer among team campaigning to get him elected at the party's national delegates conference in Tamale.
According to Asempa FM, an aide of Kwabena Adjei has confirmed the accident and added that an ambulance had picked them up and heading to the 37 Military Hospital for medical attention.
Sir John suspends campaign in solidarity
Meanwhile Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka Sir John, who is the incumbent General Secretary and seeking re-election, says he has suspended the rest of his campaign in solidarity with Agyapong.
A statement he released Tuesday afternoon noted that he heard the sad news involving his compatriot whilst on a campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.
“I have decided to suspend immediately the rest of my campaign tour until further notice. I am also proceeding to the 37 Military Hospital to visit Kwabena where, I am told, he is receiving treatment.
“I wish him and all those involved in the accident a speedy recovery.”
