He said the party had lost many of its sympathisers in the constituency due to internal wranglings.

He noted that such wranglings resulted in the party losing the seat in the just ended by-elections in the constituency.

In an interview in Tamale last Thursday, Mr Olivier said, “I have started speaking to party members on our problems using diverse methods, and I know that at the end of the day, the NDC will recapture the Kumbungu seat”.

Mr Olivier, who once contested the NDC Parliamentary primary in 2011, said his assessment at the grassroots level still placed the party ahead of all other in the constituency, despite the parliamentary defeat.

He also said one of the methods being used to seek peace for the party was the personal interaction with the party’s youth groups, elders and other opinion leaders so as to unite and help the party to retain power in 2016.

Mr Olivier, who is popularly called ‘Goozabli’ in the constituency, commended the Northern Regional Executive of the party for their hard work, resilience and fortitude in  bringing the party back to power in 2008, and retaining it in the 2012 elections.

He also commended the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Asiedu Nketia for being bold, tactful and consistent during his evidence and cross- examination at the Supreme Court where he defended the party in the ongoing election petition.

He urged the youth of the Northern Region to embrace peace and take education seriously to enable them find a better future for themselves, adding “the chiefs in the region must be peace ambassadors to champion development”.
