Kenyasi youth embark on demo
Hundreds of youth at Kenyasi, the capital of the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo Region have embarked on a demonstration to reject the re-nomination of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Eric Addae, by the President.

The irate youth also embarked on the march to retrieve a Manhindra pick-up vehicle given to the Asutifi North constituency office of the party for party work which is alleged to have been hijacked by the DCE for his personal use.
However, a timely intervention by the police from Sunyani and Goaso cut short the protest march last Sunday and also prevented them from invading the residence of the DCE to retrieve the vehicle.
The said the vehicle had since been returned to the constituency office, which according to the Asutifi North constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Charles Addai, had been parked in front of the constituency office at Kenyasi.
Mr Addai told the Daily Graphic that the protest march by the youth, who were mostly supporters of the party, was necessitated by an information making the rounds in the area that the DCE had been re-nominated by the President and also his refusal to release a pick-up vehicle given to the constituency office by the national secretariat for party work in the constituency.
Mr Addai alleged that the vehicle was given to the constituency from the party’s headquarters for party work but the DCE had hijacked it and used it to convey prisoners to his farm to work.
He alleged that snippets of information gathered in the area indicated that the President had re-nominated the DCE, but it was yet to be announced , hence the decision by the youth to embark on the protest march because the constituency executive had already petitioned against his re-nomination.
Mr Addai disclosed that the constituency executive had petitioned the President on four occasions on the re-nomination of Mr Addae as the DCE for the area.
He said their reason was that the DCE during his tenure worked to divide the party and that affected the fortunes of the party in the 2012 elections and that he also failed to win the parliamentary seat for the party.
He stated further that the executive of the constituency gave the chance to the DCE in the 2008 general elections to contest as the party's parliamentary
candidate after losing the 2004 elections but lost and, therefore, gave him the opportunity to become the DCE so that he could market himself and wrest the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 elections but he lost again.
He said the decision by the constituency executive to kick against his re-nomination was based on the divisive tendencies of the DCE and his inability to market himself to win the seat for the party in the 2012 elections.
