Jomoro NDC members asked to work harder

The Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Michael Aidoo, has appealed to party members to work extra hard for the party to retain power in the 2016 General Elections.

Mr Aidoo made the appeal when he addressed the Jomoro Constituency and Bonyere Zonal executive members at separate meetings at Bonyere near Half Assini.

The meetings formed part of his two-day familiarisation tour of the constituency.

According to him, members of the Jomoro Constituency were not present at the regional congress that elected him due to their late election.

There was ,therefore, the need for him to meet them after their election to formulate plans and policies to help the party retain power, he said.

The regional chairman said with the constituency election finally over, members should bury their differences and pool their resources towards the achievement of the goal of the party.

The regional chairman urged members of the NDC to explain the policies and programmes of the government to the people, especially those on development and social interventions.

He said the margin between the NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 election was not large, an indication that calls for the NDC to work harder to win more votes for the party.

Mr Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh, Jomoro District Chief Executive, said the 2016 election would be a big fight between the NDC and NPP and, therefore, urged supporters of the party to close their ranks and work together to win the elections.

Mr Gideon Konibah, Jomoro Constituency Chairman, in his welcome address, thanked the regional chairman for the visit.

He said with the party elections over, members of the party should come together as one body and campaign for the party to retain power in 2016. - GNA
