Independent candidate vows to destroy NPP chances in Ledzokuku

An Independent Candidate of the Ledzokuku Constituency, Stephen Stanley Martey, says his decision to break away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest the seat independently was to seek justice in the face of the electorates. Mr Martey said he was not treated fairly by the NPP during their primaries which saw Dr Okoe Boye emerge victor to represent the NPP in the area.

He alleged that the party executives in the constituency rigged the election in favour of his opponent, Dr Boye whom he described as unqualified to have contested the primaries.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Martey said "I am not contesting the seat because I want to destroy the party's chances in the area but to seek justice that the constituents seek".

"It was a stolen verdict and the people are not happy about the decision because their votes didn't represent the results announced on the day," he added

When asked whether he sought redress from the party structures, Mr Quaye said he was invited by the party's national executives to send a petition and he duly wrote a 15-page note only to be told to step down.

Speaking about his vision and ideas for the people of Ledzokuku, Mr Quaye promised that he will be looking to improve upon the educational standards of his constituents with the provision of a Teshie Development Fund (TDF) to cater for brilliant but needy students, adding that he will construct a Teshie University College, as well as cater for the health needs of the aged.
