He has, therefore, called on the youth to refrain from such illegal activities, saying: “It is a dubious means of acquiring wealth.”
He has also advised parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards attend school and desist from indulging in illegal mining, popularly known as "galamsey."
Mr Appiah-Pinkrah gave the advice when he addressed a congregation at the Akrofuom Methodist Church recently.

At the function, a pulpit donated by Mr Appiah-Pinkrah,a generator donated by children of Opanin Amponsem, a founding member of the church, and a set of musical instruments donated by one Madam Rose Agyei were dedicated by the Bishop in charge of the Obuasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt Rev. Bosomtwe Ayensu.
Mr Appiah-Pinkrah noted that the rate at which children below the age of 15 were engaging in galamsey was alarming and therefore should be the concern of all.
He stated that children would soon take over from the aged as future leaders and therefore appealed to parents to provide them with quality education that could safeguard their future.

The MP also reminded them of the rate at which the country's water bodies were being polluted as a result of “galamsey.”
He advised Ghanaians to rekindle their communal spirit and avoid littering to keep their environment clean and prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Rt Rev. Ayensu dedicated the items and commended the donors for their commitment to the church's development and urged them to keep it up.
At the same ceremony, Bishop Ayensu announced his departure from the Diocese after six years of duty.
He commended the Akrofuom Society of the Church for their immense contributions towards the success of his tenure.
He also praised some individuals who personally made donations during his stay, something he described as unprecedented in his priesthood.
