I will work to ensure effectiveness of NALAG — Addai-Amankwa

Mr Addai-AmankwahThe New Ashanti regional representative on the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Mr Addai-Amankwa, has given an assurance that he will work hard to ensure the effective running of NALAG.

He pledged to use all the qualities he had developed over the years to raise the effectiveness of NALAG in the governance of the country.

He commended the members for the confidence reposed in him.

Mr  Addai-Amankwa, who is the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo-Ano North, defeated Mr  Gorge Kyei-Baffour,  the Asante-Akim Central  Municipal Presiding Member (PM)  and one-time President of NALAG ,  in an election supervised  by the Electoral Commission (EC) in Kumasi.

Mr Addai-Amankwa won by 104 votes as against Mr Kyei-Baffour’s 46.

He called on the assemblies to collaborate to enable NALAG, which he said was a pivot for accelerating decentralisation, to ensure accelerated development.

The President of NALAG, Mr. Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, urged all the assemblies to ensure that they gave the necessary recognition to NALAG because according to him, it was the mouthpiece of the assemblies.

He said the national secretariat was making efforts to ensure the smooth running of the assemblies.

The chairman for the occasion, Mr Edward Nti-Berko, the outgoing DCE for Bosomtwe District and immediate-past Ashanti regional representative of NALAG, called on members to work in the best interest of the association.
