I’m best candidate for Women’s Organiser — Madam Boadi

An aspirant for the position of Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower West Akyem Constituency in the Eastern Region has called on women and men to work together for the development of the country.

Speaking to journalists in Asamankese, Madam Rosemond Owusu Boadi asked all and sundry to recognise the contribution of others by harnessing each other’s talents.

"It is for this reason that women's voices must be heard in the political arena, otherwise women will always play second fiddle to men," she said.

According to her, there was the need for all political parties to support the efforts by women to be part of the decision-making process.

Way forward

She, however, advised all women who had the pedigree for political office not to leave the terrain for their male counterparts.

Madam Boadi contended that in the present scheme of things, it was only through a partnership between men and women that the process of development in society would be expedited.

She said with women forming majority of the population, it was only logical to encourage them to contribute their quota towards the development process.

‘Why I’m in the race?’

She said she understood the needs of the people in the constituency, especially women, who were mostly traders and farmers, hence her decision to contest for the position.

She assured the people that if elected as the Constituency Women’s Organiser, she would team up with the rest of the party leadership to provide the needs of the people.

Madam Boadi said she had confidence in the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration to fulfil the manifesto pledge of the NPP.

She was of the view that the NPP administration was on track to transforming the economy and urged the people to lend a helping hand.

The aspirant said she had the capacity to mobilise the people to support the policies of the Akufo-Addo government and urged the delegates who would vote during the constituency election to be guided by the commitment of the candidates to the ideals and vision of the NPP, as well as the national interest.

She urged them to vote for her to lead the women in the constituency to support the NPP to retain power in 2020.
