I’ll unify nation - Prez Mahama

The rallies held in areas, including Kumawu, Agogo, Ejura and Goaso, attracted scores of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters and sympathisers. Scores of people also lined the streets to catch a glimpse of President Mahama and cheer him on.

The President said Ghana needed a unifier, tolerant and peace-loving leader at this stage of the country’s development.

He said he would be a unifier by using himself as a needle to sew through all the various political and ethnic groups together.

Besides, he said, he would continue to maintain the prevailing peace in the country as done by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

President Mahama said the NDC had executed a lot of projects and programmes throughout the country in the last fours which had laid the foundation for an economic take-off in the country.

He mentioned the construction of school blocks, dormitories, clinics, teachers’ bungalows, roads and the extension of water and electricity as some of the development projects executed by the NDC government.

He said the NDC could not claim to have satisfied all Ghanaians in terms of development projects.

Therefore, the President Mahama said the NDC had come up with a new manifesto titled “Advancing the Better Ghana Agenda’ which contains programmes covering education, health, infrastructure development and accelerated economic development.

He said the projects and programmes were intended to build on the foundation the NDC government had laid to move Ghana’s economy from a lower middle-income status to a higher middle-income one by 2016.

President Mahama introduced the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Kumawu Constituency, Mr Samuel Asiamah and the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akim South Constituency, Dr Graft Forkuo and asked Ghanaians to vote for him as their President and their respective parliamentary candidates to be able to execute the programmes.

The various chiefs commended the government for the development projects including roads, schools, water and electricity extended to their respective areas and asked the government to send them more of the development projects.
