The Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wuntomi); the Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, and an aspirant of the Chairman position of the upcoming national party elections, Mr Steve Ntim, were all at the one week observation of his passing amid drumming and dancing.

Grand funeral

The late Chairman of the Council of Elders of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer Appiah-Minkah, will be buried on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at his hometown, Aboabogya in the Afigya Kwabre District in the region.

According to the family, the body would first be sent to his residence near the Ahodwo Roundabout in Kumasi early the same day before being sent to his hometown for burial.

A grand funeral has been scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Kumasi, to be followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, May 27, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Amakom, a suburb of Kumasi.

Book of condolence

The Vice-President wrote in the book of condolence: ‘’A father, a mentor, a patriot, a statesman, a pillar of the NPP, an astute businessman. These are some of the few qualities that you showed to the world.

“We are thankful to God for the selflessness with which you lived your life. Even on your death bed, you were so kind. May your soul rest in peace. We will miss you.’’

Lawyer Appiah-Minkah was a minister of state during the Busia regime and a member of the Constitution Review Commission set up by the Professor John Evans Atta Mills administration.

He was well remembered for his industry which produced the famous Apino soap which Ghanaians were told not to patronise by former President Jerry Rawlings in a June 4 speech in 1993.

In that speech, Rawlings’ argument was that proceeds from the sale of the soap would be used to fund the then opposition party, NPP.
