House approves nominations of 9 deputy regional ministers-designate

All the nominees were recommended to the House for approval by consensus.

Mr Barton-Odro said the committee discharged its duty diligently, in accordance with the 1992 Constitution and the Standing Orders of the House, and was satisfied that the nominees were qualified for the positions they had been nominated to.

Contributing to the debate before the nomination was approved, the Deputy Majority Leader and Member for Ashiaman, Mr Alfred Agbesi, said during the vetting, the nominees showed that they knew the terrain where they had been nominated to serve.

He said it was heartwarming that all of them expressed  their willingness to collaborate with their regional ministers and receive instructions from them in the discharge of their duties.

In spite of the willingness expressed by the deputy ministers-designates, the MP asked them to be loyal to their superiors and not undermine them now that they were going to work with regional ministers who did not hail from the regions they had been posted to.

Other MPs who contributed to the debate commended the President for the inclusion of females in both the ministerial and deputy ministerial appointments at the regional level.

With the approval of the nominees, all the regions, with the exception of the Northern Region, now have deputy ministers.
