Hands off contempt of court law – Ayikoi Otoo
Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Nii Ayikoi Otoo has dismissed calls for a review of the law of contempt of court with the view to curtailing the powers of the judges to punish on their own volition.

He says there is nothing wrong with the law as provided for by the 1992 constitutions and litigants who lack clarity on any issue before the courts must seek explanations to avoid falling foul of the law.
He was contributing to a discussion of the controversial conviction and jailing of Messrs Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper and Stephen Atubiga, National Democratic Congress communication team member on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme on Saturday.
