A founder member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Mintah, has expressed unhappiness about disturbances within the party, especially about agitations concerning the re-nominations of metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs).
Mr Mintah called for truce within the party to allow a sober development of programmes to support the government as it sought to implement the Better Ghana Agenda.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Winneba, Mr Mintah, who had been the Central Regional Chairman of the party for eight years, said it was wrong for some executive members of the party to agitate for the removal or re-nomination of MMDCEs without consultation with their chiefs, because MMDCEs were not appointed to serve party members and supporters alone, but the entire district.
He appealed to regional executives of the party to form complaint units to investigate problems, including agitations for the removal of MMDCEs.
Mr Mintah said this would allow for those who perform creditably during their tenure of office to continue to promote the Better Ghana Agenda.
He appealed to MMDCEs to give recognition to the party and the executives who worked tirelessly to retain the party in power.
The founder member said it would be most unfortunate for party executives to work with MMDCEs who did not respect and did things without consulting them.
Mr Mintah further appealed to the regional executives to always ensure that peace prevailed at all levels of the party by paying regular visits to the constituencies to know what was prevailing there.
