Greater Accra Regional Minister commends National Chief Imam

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Ishmael Ashittey, has commended the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Alhaji Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, for his exemplary leadership culminating in the peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims in the country.

Mr Ashittey gave the commendation during a courtesy call on Sheikh Sharubutu at his Darkuman residence during the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival to show solidarity with him.

The regional minister said the National Chief Imam was a national asset and an embodiment of peace and unity which all Ghanaians should be grateful to God for.

Mr Ashittey was of the view that if other Muslim leaders across the globe were to emulate the National Chief Imam, the world would enjoy a lot of peace.

Responding, Sheikh Sharubutu emphasised that the Prophet Mohammed was a man of peace and it was, therefore, incumbent on all Muslims to be at peace with their neighbours.
Accompanying the regional minister were four municipal chief executives (MCEs).

They were Mr Kofi Ofori for Ablekuma North, Mr George Blay for Ablekuma West, Mrs Sandra Ahenkorah, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Mr Nii Adjei Tawiah for Korle Klottey.

Mr Ofori, on behalf of his colleagues, presented 20 bags of rice, 10 cartons of cooking oil and an undisclosed amount of money to the National Chief Imam to help him celebrate the festival. — GNA.
