The Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has inspected ongoing projects and handed over completed ones to beneficiary communities within the district.
The ongoing projects include a six-unit classroom block for the Gomoa Abonko D/A Basic School and a CHPS Compound at Gomoa Denkyira, while the completed ones are an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre/ Post Office at Gomoa Pinanko, extension of electricity to some areas without electricity and an MP-funded kindergarten block, all at Gomoa Nduem.
A durbar of chiefs and people was organised in all the areas the DCE visited to enable him to explain steps being taken by the assembly to help improve the living conditions of the people.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah indicated that the government, through the assembly, was committed to executing projects to propel the development of all communities within the district.
According to him, the district is made up of about 98 communities who need to benefit from development projects and, therefore, urged the people to bear with the government since every area would have its share of development.
He urged them to appreciate and rally behind the government to deliver on all its campaign promises so as to improve their living standards.
Role of chiefs
He stated that before the advent of modern governments, chiefs were very influential in their various communities, adding that the government would continue to collaborate with them to bring about development in the area.
He explained that chiefs would be made to play key roles in the administration of the country, stressing that they would always be consulted before projects were executed in their respective areas.
Appeal
He appealed to corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to provide computers to furnish the ICT centre at Gomoa Pinanko.
He added that in today’s era of technological advancement, the citizenry, especially students, should be provided with knowledge in ICT to enable them to compete effectively with the rest of the world.
Chief
The Chief of Gomoa Nduem, Nana Kwakye Arhin XVIII, lauded the assembly for its efforts towards addressing the developmental challenges confronting the area.
He urged the government to speed up efforts towards the completion of all ongoing projects in order to alleviate the plight of the people.
He also appealed to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, who was financing the renovation of the kindergarten block in the town, to ensure its early completion so that a proper foundation could be laid for the children’s education.
