NPP members urged to preach government’s achievements

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Divine Otoo Agorhom, has advised party members and party faithful to desist from the act of speaking ill of the government, as such attitude made the government unpopular.

“Permit me to appeal to the party faithful to desist from the ‘yεn hu hwee’ (we are not seeing anything) and the ‘oman yi mu ayε den’ (times are hard in the country) mantra promulgated by our opponents,” he said.

He, therefore, advised party members to rather preach the positive works of the government, as negative comments posed great threats to the government's fortunes and the party's very existence.

Mr Agorhom  gave the advise while addressing some members and executives of the NPP at the sodcutting ceremony for the construction of a new party office for the Nsawam Constituency of the party.

Recreational centre

The office will also serve as a recreational centre for the youth of the party.

Mr Agorhom urged party members to be vigilant and not fall prey to “the plans and deceit of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”

“Let us speak the truth to ourselves. Given the improvement of the Health Insurance Scheme, restoration of the teacher trainee allowances, expansion of the school feeding programme, implementation of the Free Senior High School policy among other things, we can testify that the government is really working” he said.

He, however, urged them to exercise patience as benefits of the “good works” of the government would eventually trickle down to them.

Ghana first

“Now let me respectfully say that we didn’t promise to fill the stomach of party members. We have made promises to the good people of Ghana and we need to address them first, so let us take our time,” he said.

For his part, the first Vice Chairman of the Amasaman Constituency of the NPP, Mr Akwasi Afrifa-Mensa, hoped that the project would be completed on time.

“We have many of our members who are carpenters, electricians, plumbers, labourers, construction engineers and we have to engage their services,” he said.

He said that, “We are going to have a fundraising dinner for this project during the Christmas season and so we want to appeal to you all to donate towards this noble cause.”

He, however, made an appeal to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to continue efforts in developing the nation as Ghanaians were demanding for more.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly,  Mr Clement Wilkinson, also called on all party members to support the construction of the office.
